What Can Acupuncture Help Me With?

Acupuncture has been around for many thousands of years. At the heart of Acupuncture lies the concept of “Qi”, pronounced “Ch-ee”. Qi can be defined as an electromagnetic energy that flows throughout the body, usually in the presence of blood. We can take advantage of this energy by placing Acupuncture needles in certain points on the body to restore and the body’s natural harmony and balance, which leads to increased function and elimination of symptoms.

Almost all new patients to Acupuncture note how surprised they are that the treatment isn’t painful and how relaxing it is. They will commonly find themselves in a state of deep relaxation during acupuncture sessions and many even sleep. By restoring your body’s natural balance, Acupuncture can often lead to a sense of refreshment and increase in energy.

IS IT SAFE?

When performed by trained physicians using disposable needles and trained in ‘clean needle technique’, acupuncture is very safe. Chiropractic physicians who perform acupuncture have undergone vigorous training as part of their schooling to function as primary physicians, which means we are capable of accurately diagnosing conditions which may require a referral to a medical specialist. This is an extremely important fact in terms of safety which provides our patients with the utmost confidence that we will not overlook something that may be treated by someone who is not trained in western diagnostics. We freely refer back and forth with medical providers in all areas and specialties and our philosophy is one that utilizes the best parts in all of health care to provide you with the best and safest care.
